Unique Handmade Gifts Support French Camp Academy

Open Tuesday – Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Our gift shop offers handmade arts and crafts, quilts and other unique items, as well as craft demonstrations. Students and local artisans make many of the items offered for sale. The gift shop is an outreach ministry of French Camp Academy and profits support the school’s programs and ministries.

Located in an historic 1840s “dogtrot cabin” (named for the center breezeway), our gift shop occupies one side, while the Historic District’s Hospitality Room is on the other. The cabin is located on the approximate site of the original LeFleur’s Tavern Inn.

Benjamin F. Ramsey purchased the cabin in 1879, and it was then passed by inheritance to Wilburn Huffman, who had married a Ramsey. Originally located two miles south of French Camp, this was the first structure moved to the French Camp Historic District, in 1975. French Camp Academy staff and students oversaw the renovations of the cabin, which is one of the increasingly rare dogtrots remaining in the United States.
